“Houb” is the Arabic word for love. I was experimenting with different calligraphic styles until I suddenly realised that the word “Houb” in this particular variation of the Kufic script is simply the embodiment of this abstract concept and its emotions. This is love, with its highs, its lows, and its plateaus.

Kufic is the oldest calligraphic form of the various Arabic scripts which was developed in the city of Kufa (Hence the name) in modern day Iraq circa 600 AD.
